On Tuesday night, Alexis and Logan attended a sibling class at the Mankato Clinic in preparation for their baby brother. They were so funny! The entire drive to the clinic was filled with questions from Logan..."Mommy, are they going to take your baby out while we are there? Are we going to have to change babies' diapers and get poop all over?" Alexis was just rolling her eyes!
Then out of the blue, Logan told me his pre-school class was taking a field trip to Mexico. I'm sure you can imagine my face...hilarious is all I can say. Alexis and him then proceeded to talk about the time when Jadee and I went to Mexico for vacation (spring break), which I had no idea they even knew about because we were in college and let me just say that I would NEVER let them see those pictures!
So with that, Logan asked why we didn't bring him. As I tried to explain that he and Alexis hadn't been born yet (they weren't even a thought for that matter), that brought about many more questions or comments like, "While I was in your tummy, Alexis was just a baby right?" Oh, it was interesting. I'm under the impression that Logan thinks I was pregnant with him my entire life...even while I was pregnant with Alexis. The entire time, Alexis played along because she knows he easily gets his feelings hurt if you laugh. Ironically, at the class Logan didn't ask or answer a single question unless he was prompted by the nurse educator.
Anyway, at the clinic they watched a video, read a story about newborns, changed diapers (pretend of course), and fed their babies. My kids brought Webkinz along because they really don't play with dolls...and no way was Logan going to put a diaper on his lizard! Ha, ha! They then got to do a tour of the labor and delivery floor at the hospital. There were two newborns in the nursery, so that was neat for them to see. I think they are taking their sibling roles very seriously now and I also think they will be very good helpers when the baby does come.
