Wow! I can't believe it is June 1st and Jace will be 1-year-old in just seven days! Well, I don't typically post without some pictures, but those will have to come later.
This month Alexis danced in her 5th dance recital and received her 5-year award. I was one proud mama when she walked across the stage to receive her trophy (all 5 times). It's really kind of funny because when you are on team, you perform in every show so they present you with your award at every performance. At the first performance, Alexis just kind of looked at me like I was joking when I told her she had to return her trophy to the table for the next show. At the last performance, she asked me if she could "finally" keep her trophy.
I also performed in every single show as part of the DXP Mamas. It was so much fun (and a lot of work)! If you want to see the performance, check out my facebook page. We did a pretty good job! Although I love dance, and am glad Alexis also enjoys it, I am glad this performance year is over. After practices, 3 competitions, the expense, and spending over 20 hours at West High School last weekend doing hair, make-up, and costume changes, I am DONE and need a break.
This Memorial weekend, our unplanned weekend turned into a busy few days of fun. We spent Friday night relaxing with a movie. Saturday, we attended the birthday party of another one-year-old. My work friend's little boy was born just 10 days before Jace. It was such a fun party with a jumping castle, pony rides, games, lots of candy, and baby ducks! The kids had SO MUCH FUN!!! Sunday was a relaxing rainy day at home, which was much needed. Then Monday, we spent the day at the West Wood Marina and on the lake boating with good friends.
Although our weekend was full of fun, it was not without some sadness. On this holiday, we always remember our loved ones in heaven, but on this particular Memorial Day...I spent much time thinking of my dear friend who lost her dad two weeks ago to terminal illness. He was just 62 years old and much too young to die. I will always remember Ed...the dad who always worried about what us girls were up to. I'm sure he will continue to watch over all of us from above.
