If you know Logan, you know that he has always been a talker. He uttered his first words loud and clear long before his first birthday and he was speaking in 2-3 word sentences by the time he was one year. He's quite humorous and somewhat philosophical during conversation. He always has a story to tell and will leave you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
"Dad, were you made in China?"
This is one of my favorite conversations between Logan, Alexis, and Jadee that took place one afternoon during lunch. I overheard it while I was doing some last minute prep work.
Alexis: Dad, why does it say 'Made in China' on the bottom of my cup?
Jadee: Because everything is made in China.
Logan: (Flips his own cup over). Mine says 'Made in China' too. Why does it say that again?
Jadee: Because China makes everything.
Logan: Oh. (Pause). Dad, were you made in China?
"Mom, I'm going to live with you forever."
This conversation took place last night while I was doing some photo editing on the computer. Our computer is in Logan's room right now, so he was playing on the floor and talking with me while Jace sat in his bouncy chair and listened on.
Logan: Mom, I am going to live with you forever because I love you.
Me: Really? I thought you wanted to be a cop. Don't you want to grow up, get a job, and have your own family someday?
Logan: Well, you are my family. Besides, Jace is going to need a grandpa and I can be the grandpa.
Me: (Okay, you can imagine what I am thinking as I try REALLY HARD to not laugh). Honey, Jace already has two grandpas just like you. Jace is your brother now and always will be your brother.
Logan: But someday you will be the grandma and I can be the grandpa.
Me: What about dad? He will be the grandpa when you, Alexis, and Jace have your own kids.
Logan: But I love you so much that I want to live here forever! Can I marry Alexis then?
Me: Nope, you have to meet a girl, fall in love, and marry her.
Logan: No way!
"When you die, you go in the ground and become a ghost."
This conversation came about tonight at supper. It was sparked by Jadee and I discussing H1N1 (Swine Flu) and what kind of impact it could have. I'm just not sure how serious it is, but we are taking extra measures to be germ-free at our house. I carry hand sanitizer in my purse, in the diaper bag, in the stroller, and in my car. The kids have it in their desks at school along with Clorox wipes and they have been instructed to wash their desks everyday. When I pick them up from school, they are given a squeeze of hand sanitizer immediately and are told not to touch Jace until they lather up. Anyway...
Logan: When you die, you go in the ground right?
Alexis: No, you go to heaven.
Logan: Not everybody goes to heaven, right mom?
Me: No, not everyone goes to heaven...at least I hope not...not the very bad people.
Logan: Some people go in the ground under those block things.
Me: What blocks? A headstone?
Logan: Yeah, and then they become a ghost.
Me: (Puzzled). Really?
Logan: Yeah, I saw it on Scooby Doo.
Me & Jadee: (Looking at each other trying so hard not to laugh).
After our conversation about death, I told Jadee about what Logan and I discussed the night before about him wanting to live with us forever. Well, he has come to terms that he can't be the grandpa and he can't marry his sister. So, he has decided that he is going to marry his aunt, Amanda. Ha, ha!!!
