Just incase you are new to our blog or you missed some older posts, Angelique (Annie) joined our family about 3 weeks ago as a foster dog from Midwest Animal Rescue Shelter (MAPS). She is a 3 year old (best estimate) American Bull Dog who recently had puppies 10 weeks ago. Unfortunately her owner could no longer care for her (or he didn't want her) and so she was surrendered to a shelter in another state. Since she was not adopted within the allowed time frame, her name was added to a list of dogs to be gassed. At that time, MAPS came to her rescue and brought her to an emergency foster family in the cities.
By chance, I came across her story and picture and basically couldn't forget about her. We decided to provide her a more permanent foster home so she wouldn't have to return to the shelter after weaning her pups. It didn't take long for us to fall in love with Annie! She is the sweetest, most obedient dog we have ever met. It saddens me to think that anyone could give her up because I can't imagine there is another dog more perfect than her. So with that, we decided to adopt Annie and made it official on February 21st when we traveled to the cities to sign the paperwork. We couldn't be happier!
Jadee and I announced her adoption to the kids on Alexis's birthday by presenting them with a bumper sticker that says, "My best friend is from MARS." Needless to say, they were (and are) thrilled!
