Jace: 11 Months

Jace is 11 months...and just one month shy of celebrating his first birthday (sigh)! My baby is almost a toddler (cry)!  Already, I am having separation anxiety just thinking of my baby growing up so fast.  Just yesterday, he would still not stand on his own (and he would literally ream me out in baby talk whenever I would stand him up and let go).  He also wouldn't put his feet on the ground or make walking motions when I would try to hold his hands.  Last week, Thursday morning, however, he decided to stand up on his own in the middle of my bathroom while I was getting ready for work.  He was SO HAPPY that he started clapping and then did it three more times before losing his balance because he was so giddy over his new accomplishment.  It was so dang precious!  These kinds of moments are the ones that just melt my heart and make me wish I could stay at home with him every single day.  His smile and fun personality is so contagious!  He is the happiest little guy, always! (Well, except when he is cutting teeth, but I would be crabby too).

Last Monday, I lowered Jace's crib for the first time since putting it together.  Side note: I already had it lowered some from the beginning because you couldn't see the airplanes on his bed skirt otherwise.  I know, I am pathetic!  Anyway, I nearly cried because it felt like I had just put it together and all the feelings of anticipating his birth came rushing back to me.  Really, why does time have to go so fast???  I know I have three...but I am so wanting another baby (I hope my husband doesn't read that)!  Now that Jace is nearly done with the bottle and wanting to self-feed, I am realizing now more than ever how precious those simple moments are.  I guess that's what happens when one chapter in your life is coming to a close...my own baby days are over (sob)!  THANK GOD my friends and sister are still having babies (no, my sister is not pregnant now but I wish she was...hint, hint Manda...Emma is two).

Well, this post is supposed to be about Jace and not me, so I will continue.  Other than everything I have mentioned, he has mastered crawling at an exceptional speed, pulling up and grabbing things from wherever he can reach (without us hardly noticing), and I have to say...he has become somewhat destructive.  We haven't had a destructive child yet, so I guess our time is due.  Unlike Alexis and Logan, Jace loves the cupboards.  He likes to open and close them and he is now pulling my pots and pans out.  He likes to play "on" the dishwasher when it is open (and gets mad when we close it), he is intrigued by throwing things away in the garbage, he loves to play in Annie's water dish, and he recently discovered how much fun it is to unravel toilet paper.

Jace loves to cuddle and he has a favorite blanket.  It's not one I would have chosen (Alexis and Logan love their handmade quilts), but he will not go in or out of his crib without it...he also does not like to share it.  He is attached to his pacifier and has at least a dozen (most of which we cannot find).  At night time, he goes to bed with one in his mouth and one in his hand.  I have a feeling he will be the 3-year-old kid at Target with a pacifier in his mouth still.  Jace also loves his morning and night time bottles, so I am not so sure that he will be done with those at one year (hmmm, as I write this, I am wondering if I am enabling these habits in wishful thinking he will stay a baby FOREVER).  Oh, and this last month, Jace cut another top tooth with another on the way.  This last part should probably be written along with his other destructive behaviors because he LOVES to chew on my end tables and my couch!!!

As soon as I find some time, I need to take his 11 month pictures.  I promise to post some soon!  He changed so much this last month!  For now, enjoy these candid photos I captured this last month with my handy point and shoot.

"Toilet paper! So fun!"

"Yeah!  A ball!"

"I better get out of here before mom catches me!"

" Hey, what's in here?"

"Yum, this tastes good!"

"I got you now Annie!"

"All done!"

"I'll help you mom!"

"Swinging is such a blast! This is how my mom keeps me contained."
