Catching Up

Well, here it is September 12th and I am very behind (again) on updating our family blog.  As another weekend comes to a close, I am reminded of how fast the weekends go during the school year.  August was gone before it even started, as it was my busiest month so far for photo sessions (but I think September is going to top August) and I started back at work on August 30th.  Returning to my position with the district has been bittersweet, to say the least, so I remind myself daily that it's the job that pays my salary and benefits.

Alexis and Logan started school on September 9th.  Alexis is a 4th grader and very excited about her class and new teacher.  I think it will be another good year for her.  She is also dancing again and has dance two nights a week for 3 1/2 hours of dance weekly.  Logan is in 1st grade and also excited about his new teacher...who was also Alexis's first grade teacher.  Since hockey doesn't start for him until late October, we are enjoying having only one active child at the moment because once hockey starts we will be going non-stop.

Jace continues to attend daycare at Deb's.  Although he was enrolled twice a week over the summer months, he is not a happy guy when I leave him in the mornings.  It sure has made returning to work even harder.  Knowing how fast the baby and toddler years go, it makes me sad that I can't spend more time with him!  I keep telling myself that someday (hopefully sooner than later) I will be able to work part-time.  Anyway, he is now 15 months and running everywhere.  He is on the go and always rearranging the chairs and cupboards in our kitchen.  He has also learned how to climb onto the couch by himself, which was quickly followed by learning how to get off of the couch without tumbling backward.  Thanks to my in-laws, he is a pro at going down steps all by himself...and he loves to go fast when is wearing his pajamas!  Jace has cut his top 1-year molars and anxiously awaiting the bottom two.  He is still a good eater and he loves a cold cup of milk (especially with an Oreo cookie like his mom).  He is also talking more and more every day as he quickly picks up on many words from his brother and sister.  One of his favorite things to do, however, is to bark like Annie or quack like a duck and now that the last bouquet of balloons has deflated, he also loves to carry a ball around and throw it (he has quite the arm).

Jadee continues at Kraft and has rearranged his hours some to accommodate the crazy mornings around here.  I am thankful to not have to get 3 kids and myself ready and out the door 5 mornings a week, as now it's down to just 2 days per week when he attends early morning meetings.  Of course, the trade-off is that he works a little later so it's a compromise I guess.

Me...well as I mentioned earlier, my business has really taken off.  I am busy trying to balance my day job, my photography business, and my family life.  Thankfully, I have an amazing and supportive husband who is my biggest fan.  Therefore, he entertains the kids when I need to edit pictures and he goes it alone when I am booked with sessions.  This is a busy time of year with senior sessions and then the holiday season will begin...so I am thinking it "might" slow down for me in January.  I think I will maybe take that month off. ;)

Other than that, I have a feeling this will be a year of changes for our family...stay tuned!
