"Umm, guys I can't move."
"Yes! A much needed break from the vest!"
"Ugh! This darn vest again...and now they stuck a hat on my head!"
Fun in the sun and the sand! The sand dunes are gigantic!!!
Note: Jace is not "really" riding in the tube. I'm not sure why he is even in the water without his vest here.
Okay, time for a little story...As you can see above, our day was bright, sunny, and beautiful as we took a day trip down the Mississippi River. We went one way for about 3 hours without having to get any gas. After our adventure to the lock and the sand dunes, we decided to break out the tube and do some tubing on the way back. Well, we discovered the tube had deflated some and we had no pump. Lucky for us, some friendly boaters at the dunes lent us their pump! After awhile of tubing, it deflated again due to a hole we found so we decided it was time to stop, get gas, and eat at the Marina. Unfortunately, the gas pumps were closed...yup closed!!! Hmmm, how in the h*ll were we going to get back without gas??? Lucky for us, some friendly people at the Marina drove Steve to the gas station while the rest of ate and he was able to fill a "tank" of gas. Note that we used almost 2 tanks on the way down river. So imagine this...4 adults and 3 kids riding on a boat up the river enjoying the beautiful sunset and in about 45 minutes (or less), the sky goes from this...
to this...
Yup, that's the biggest wall cloud any of us had ever seen! We didn't know whether to laugh or cry. In the mean time, the boat motor kept sputtering and it even quit a couple of times. We thought for sure we would end up calling in a "May Day." Angels were watching over us this night because it didn't even start to rain until we made it off the dock. The next day Steve was able to see how much gas was left in the tank...well, he couldn't see any!
