We spent Christmas Eve day baking with the kids. Unfortunately, we were unable to go sledding because it was so cold. The kids, however, enjoyed hanging out in their pj's, helping me roll oreo balls for oreo truffles, making puppy chow, and frosting sugar cookies for their cousins.
Later that afternoon, we got dressed up and attended the 4:00 children's mass at our church. We were there by 3:30 and lucky to get a place to sit! Guess we'll know to go much earlier next year though. Alexis hopes to participate then by being an Angel.
After church, we picked up supper from pizza hut (along with paper plates, etc.) It was nice to keep it simple this year so we could enjoy our evening with the kids. Before opening presents, we all got into our pj's so we could be ready for our movie. I don't think we have ever seen the kids so cooperative! Jadee and I also started a new tradition with the kids this year of hiding a pickle ornament in the tree. For those of you not familiar with this idea, whoever finds the pickle gets an extra gift. Knowing that whoever "didn't" find the pickle would be very disappointed, we decided to get a gift that they could share. It was pretty fun to watch them search through the tree! We ended our night by watching the movie Elf, putting out cookies and milk for Santa, and leaving water for the reindeer.
