This is a post I recently featured on my photo blog (follow the link on the right), but thought I would put it here too...
As my pregnant friends and co-workers know, I am always trying to convince them to come for a maternity session and I often get the same response..."No way!"...and then I am asked if I photograph my own belly. Well, like many women, I have photographed my own belly each month and then stashed the pictures away somewhere in a drawer, occasionally posting one or two on my blog for friends and family to see, but no, I had NEVER done a professional maternity session until now. So yup, you guessed it...this is me.
Although I think pregnancy is a beautiful thing and I truly love photographing maternity sessions, photographing my own belly is always bitter-sweet. Like every woman, I too am self-conscious of the little things (that can most certainly feel like big things) like the size and shape of my body, the excess weight I have added with each pregnancy, the stretch marks that have progressively spread over my belly button, etc. but these things are just that...little things.
Over the years, I have learned that pregnancy is truly a miracle. Pregnancy is a gift. And since gifts are meant to be shared, these pictures are for my clients and friends who so graciously allow me to post photos of their beautiful bellies. Enjoy!
And thank you to my husband who most certainly didn't mind taking these photos...but had to put up with me stealing the camera after every 3 clicks, only to tell him what to do differently and to start over ;)
