Hiccups Along the Way

So...putting the nursery together has not been without it's hiccups.  Last weekend, I spent an entire day doing paint touch-ups in several rooms of our home and for some reason, I can see the exact spots I painted in the nursery.  Maybe it's because I was too lazy to stir the paint and just shook it up instead (grrr).  Then the new mattress (that I so carefully researched) showed up on Wednesday with a tear in it.

Today, I had Jadee pick up curtain rings for me so I could hang the new curtains we bought on Saturday.  I took a guess at how many packs to buy...I was wrong and so he didn't buy enough to hang the second panel.  In the mean time, I switched out the curtain rod with one we had in storage from when Alexis's room was upstairs and go figure, the holes for the brackets didn't match up...so now I get to fill holes and do more paint touch-ups.  Anxious to get as much put together as possible today, I decided to wash the bedskirt because it was a little dirty from sitting on the shelf at Pottery Barn.  After waiting for it to hang-dry much of the afternoon, I ironed it up and put it on the bed...AND it doesn't fit.  Seriously.  Since this crib is much lower, the skirt is WAY TOO LONG.  I attempted to pin it down the middle under the mattress but then the ends looked terrible.  Guess I'll find a seamstress and have it tailored!  Which then, I'm sure it will need to be washed and ironed again.  On the bright side, I'm sure I will appreciate the beauty of the room that much more when it's all done. ;)

I think my patience is running on low these days, as I am extremely anxious to meet this little girl and to be done with pregnancy.  Knowing (for sure) that this is our last baby, I have enjoyed this pregnancy very much and have tackled the majority of any pregnancy woes with a very positive attitude...but I can tell that I have hit the second-half of the third trimester.  The lack of sleep has officially set in, as well as the difficulties of eating, breathing, and maneuvering around in general.  Thank goodness I have such a wonderful husband who lets me sleep when I want to for as long as I want to...and who tolerates my moods when things aren't going my way.  At this point, I'm pretty sure the countdown is on for both of us, however.

This will be a busy week with two nights of conferences, which means two, very long days of work.  The positive I am looking forward to, though, is having the entire week off next week...yeah!!!  I'm hoping then I will be able to pull together the rest of the nursery, get the new computer set up, get caught up on editing and other to-do items, clean out the last of our closets and cupboards, and find some time for some much needed R & R...and maybe some fun in the cities with Jadee and the kids.

Here's to a fast week!!! ;)
